Termites, which are also commonly known as “white ants” are cellulose loving social insects that live in colonies comprising King, Queen, Soldiers, and Workers. Termites, the main workers in the colony are major structural pests. According to the habits, these can be divided into 3 different ecological classes:

SUBTERRANEAN TERMITES:

• Termite colonies that need contact with earth & normally dwell underneath building structures.
• These can be identified by mud tubes (earthen tunnels) they construct or plastering on walls.

DRY WOOD TERMITES:

• They do not require soil contact to live & build colonies inside timber itself.

DAMP WOOD TERMITES:

• They live in timber that has high moisture content.
